Prior to founding IGNIA A_lvaro RodrA-guez served as the Chief Financial Officer of Grupo Vitro, one of the largest glass manufacturers in the world. Prior to joining Vitro, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Farmacias Benavides (Far-Ben). Far-Ben is the largest drugstore chain in Latin America with US$500 million in sales at 600 stores and 6,500 employees. From 1999 to 2002, A_lvaro served as Chief Financial Officer of Grupo Elektra, Mexico’s largest specialty retailer and one of the largest consumer finance companies in Latin America.
After six years of service, in 2007 he was elected as Chair of the Board of Directors of ACCION International. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Banco Compartamos, chairs the Board of UNIDOS LO LOGRAREMOS, A.C., serves on the Board of IMEF (Instituto Mexicano de Ejecutivos de Finanzas) and is a Member of the Advisory Board of Banamex.
Mr. RodrA-guez holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from the Instituto TecnolA3gico AutA3nomo de MAcxico (ITAM). In 2005 was named Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
