Derek Gent is currently the Executive Director of Vancity Community Foundation, a member of the Vancity Group of Companies. The Foundation is an arms-length public charity providing donor advised funds.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Derek managed a portfolio of investments focused on social enterprises, non-profit organizations and sustainability oriented businesses at Vancity Capital Corporation, the venture capital subsidiary of Vancouver City Savings Credit Union.
Founded in 1946, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (Vancity) has grown to become the largest credit union in English-speaking Canada, with more than $14.5 billion in assets, serving over 410,000 members through 61 branches and employing more than 2,600 employees.
