The son of Sri Lankan immigrants, Lucky Gunasekara serves as the Medical Director for FrontlineSMS:Medic. Growing up in Europe, Asia and the U.S., Lucky spent his late-teens and twenties studying global health and international development as an undergrad at Cornell and as a Fulbright Fellow in Japan. Paul Farmer, Jeff Sachs, Paul Collier, Bill Easterly, M. Yunus, Bill Drayton, Jacqueline Novogratz and Laurie Garrett are just a few social innovation practitioners Lucky admires. As a current medical school student at Stanford, Lucky strongly believes that the war on global poverty needs to be fought by formulating a prescient and organized strategy that uses the foreign aid in global health as fuel for long-term change in developing countries with short-term results.
