Nathan George – Office of Social Innovation & Civic Participation

Nathan George is a business development expert who grew up in the Middle East and has travelled extensively internationally in his professional career. In the past 18 years, Nathan has built a number of new businesses in the technology sector ranging from $5 million to $30 million in size. In 2006 he moved from the UK to California and founded the fair trade company, Trade as One, as a for profit business response to the issues of extreme poverty and human trafficking. A strong sales channel for them is through partnerships with churches nationwide. Trade as One’s message of living simply and buying ethically is being embraced by such thought leading churches as Willow Creek in Illinois, Menlo Park Presbyterian, and First Presbyterian Church Berkeley. Nathan lives with his wife Catherine and three boys in Santa Cruz, California.
