Nii Simmonds – Maker Faire Africa/Afrobotics

Nii Simmonds is a recognized speaker, consultant, and sustainable evangelist on African entrepreneurship. Mr. Simmonds is an African blogger who blogs on Nubian Cheetah. Nubian Cheetah seeks to inform those who have an intrinsic interest in Africa’s sustainable development with regards to; ICT, technology, business, venture capital, social entrepreneurship and affordable health care.

Mr. Simmonds speaks and presents on entrepreneurship, SME financing, sustainable technology, affordable health care, small-scale manufacturing in Africa and other emerging markets. Professionally Mr. Simmonds is a consultant who has experience in corporate finance, supply chain management, competitive intelligence, corporate strategy and outsourcing.

Mr. Simmonds is a co-founder of Maker Faire Africa, an annual rotating country event to showcase African ingenuity, innovation and invention. He is also the co-founder of Afrobotics, an African robotic competition. Afrobotics mission is to inspire African university students to be science, engineering, and technology leaders, by enabling them in innovative team-based competitions that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire entrepreneurial risk-taking, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. Currently, he serves on the board of advisors for Investors Without Borders, Sproxil, Maker Faire Africa, Afrobotics, Gateway Innovations Limited and BarCampGhana.

Mr. Simmonds got his B.S. in Management/Finance from Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University and a minor in Information Systems and Statistical Analysis. Mr. Simmonds holds a Business Process Outsourcing Master Certificate from the Wharton School.
