John Simon – Center for Global Development

John Simon is a visiting fellow at the Center for Global Development starting February 2nd, 2009. His work at the Center examines social investment and its impact on low-income countries. Before joining CGD, John served in Addis Ababa as Representative of the United States to the African Union (AU). Prior to becoming ambassador to the AU, John was Executive Vice President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) where he spearheaded efforts to catalyze new private equity funds and promote private investment to the developing world. John previously served at the White House as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Relief, Stabilization and Development for the National Security Council (NSC) and at USAID as Deputy Assistant Administrator overseeing the agency’s development information and evaluation units. Earlier in his career, he worked at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
