Purpose and Desired Outcome
Abundance is a movement to free mindsets, dollars, policies and practices to address anti-Blackness and White supremacy culture in philanthropy. Abundance requires distributing wealth differently and transforming philanthropy’s traditional power relationships. The goal is to ensure long-term and equitable distribution to Black-led (and centered) organizations. The session will: 1. Reflect on current unjust practices, policies and outcomes in philanthropy specifically as it pertains to Black people. 2. Discuss the Abundance concept and how it can help create structural and sustained change in philanthropy’s role in Black communities 3. Share concrete ways to shift practices, policies and outcomes to better support Black people and communities
