Ancestral practices as a tool for delivering equity and inclusion within the Indigenous innovation ecosystem

Marissa Hill July 13, 2022

Our vision is to improve all life through Indigenous innovation.

We are creating sacred spaces for First Nation, Inuit, and Métis Peoples and communities to dream big, so they can solve complex challenges through transformative, innovative, and bold solutions that are rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing and being. For Indigenous innovators to unlock their fullest potential, they need more than just money. Indigenous innovators need wrap-around supports that meet them where they are at along their journey, so they have what they need, when they need it, how they need it. Through culturally rooted and gender affirming wrap-around supports, we walk alongside innovators while they develop, test, refine, and scale innovative ideas that re-inspire healing, imagination, and opportunity for their communities, while also benefitting all people and the Land.

We are committed to identifying, understanding, and removing or reducing the systemic, racialized, and gendered barriers that Indigenous women, Two Spirit, queer, trans, non-binary, and gender diverse people face within the innovation and impact investment ecosystem in Canada and beyond. We do this through a distinctly Indigenous approach that encourages innovators to dream, vision, explore, and connect with themselves and all their relations so they can walk the journey required to bring their innovative ideas to life.

Join us as we explore key learnings and aspects of our anti-colonial and anti-oppressive framework for creating the conditions for Indigenous innovation to thrive. The word decolonization is used a lot these days – as Indigenous Peoples we do not decolonize, we inherently start from a place that is not colonial, and are using this as a tool to deliver equity and diversity as we transform the innovation and impact investment ecosystem.
