Systemic barriers to tech equity and access and maintain the status quo. In order to make the changes we all seek outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals, we must rethink our systems so that they truly create opportunity for all. Small social enterprises and NGOs, especially those in the global South, face new challenges in terms of accessing technology, due to recent changes in some corporate philanthropic strategies. This discussion will inspire participants to reimage philanthropic systems to put power and trust in the local communities, who best understand what solutions are needed.
TechSoup and its global partners are committed to transforming the way technology powers civil society organizations to create and enhance equity. External collaboration is critical for changing systems that reinforce inequities. This session will address:
- Can we mobilize communities to address inequity at its roots?
- How can we leverage resources and expertise to address structural inequities and barriers in social service delivery?
- How principles for responsible tech can be at the center of reimagined systems?
- How can we empower local leadership to enable people to shift power and trust to underdeveloped markets?
