Data and experience show that expat-led social enterprises far outpace their locally-led counterparts in terms of raising investment. In this session, we will unpack some of the neo-colonial mindsets present in the impact investing ecosystem that perpetuates this discrepancy. We will also explore how local leaders can be successful in spite of these challenges, and the role intermediaries play in changing this system and building a more just funding ecosystem
