There was a time when the three branches of government plus a free press provided the check, balances, and protections that ensured America’s democratic experiment could withstand the test of time. But it feels faint right now. Indeed, with our institutions, people, and planet all under attack, no sector is unaffected – and no players can remain on the sidelines. Join Hispanics in Philanthropy for an unsparing look at the crises we’re facing (especially around civil society and climate) and how philanthropy and impact investing can lead the way to new solutions.

Purpose and Desired Outcome
While suddenly a conservative majority on the Supreme Court makes if feel like a half-dozen people (literally) can unravel the progress of decades and the hopes of millions, the intersection of power and money that lies at the heart of decisions about where to invest and donate capital can – and should – unlock a wave of change that can exist outside the crumbling ideal of genteel compromise. HIP’s recently launched Transforming Philanthropic Practice initiative is actively advising donors and investors on urgent and effective means to fight degradation of rights and prospects for Latinx communities. A fireside chat between three folks moving capital to accelerate change and decelerate the reversal of rights and hard-fought protections brings the conversation center stage, connecting money and power and making sure we're wielding both as urgently and effectively as possible.
