Within a generation, the United States will become a country of citizens who are predominantly People of Color – the New Majority. Given the current challenges of the racial wealth gap, which left unchecked will to continue to widen as time passes, crucial questions are posed: who will support the future, the GDP, the U.S. standard on quality of life, even the benefits of U.S. global support? We must determine to supercharge the new majority with immediacy and with focused attention; the new majority must have facility to high-growth pathways.
Learning, sharing, and action are key methods through which Living Cities’ Capital for the New Majority team aims to answer this question. We believe that the important work needed for closing the racial wealth gap goes beyond providing better outcomes for entrepreneurs and founders of color; it requires research, community building, and overall systems change. Our speakers will reflect on alternative high-growth constructs, building foundational wealth through real estate, and emphasize the importance of developing a community of practice and accountability that provides crucial support to fund managers and founders of color.
