And, for local communities, it isn’t delivering on the hoped-for jobs and economic thriving. 3 out of 5 people have ideas for a startup, but 92% of them won’t take action on them, leaving millions of good ideas sitting on the sidelines. Builders + Backers has completely reimagined the onramp to entrepreneurship, fueling ideas ranging from community projects and impact ventures to SME’s and venture-scale startups. During our session we’ll share research on why the link between entrepreneurship and venture capital is limiting engagement in entrepreneurship, sidelining promising ideas, and unintentionally hampering communities’ ability to achieve their desired economic and social outcomes. The outcome of the session is to showcase and redefine how we see entrepreneurship, who can be an entrepreneur, what solutions make it to market, what solutions scale, and how we can uniquely invest in them.
