Feeding the world: Opportunities to end global hunger using technology

Shannon Cherry May 31, 2021

The global pandemic has led to a deep reduction in the amount of food available to vulnerable people around the world. Food insecurity is expected to worsen into 2022. With technological advances, and a third of the world’s food ending up in landfills, why are so many people…still unable to get enough to eat?

Solutions abound from Food banks, shelters, and government programs such as food stamps, and international organizations like the UN invite collaboration around the Sustainable Development Goal of Ending Hunger.  We still have one in four people on our planet struggling to find food. The answer is ensuring technology that’s readily available to most people can be used to support food security.

In this panel discussion, we’ll highlight some of the organizations using technology to bridge the gap to address food security issues to help understand the opportunities and additional challenges to help feed the world.
