Concerned citizens started meeting in North Carolina to create a sustainable economy, based on Doughnut Economics, for their local watershed through regenerative, local partnerships and projects that emphasize the need for future-forward thinking that will benefit their community through food security, clean water, and reduced taxes.
While they will raise funding for the project through a DAF and crowdfunding marketplace, they will be able to exponentially expand the impact and lifespan of their work through a mutual credit toolkit called ReSource.
Since the impact area of the group’s project includes multiple municipalities including Asheville, the largest regional city, and is alongside efforts by Buncombe County to determine their 20-Year Comprehensive Plan for sustainable development policies, this initiative can be a demonstration of how grassroots movements can operate in this critical decade, and motivate and inform people to do elsewhere in the US and the world.
