We propose a hybrid between a panel and workshop. The panel would include our executive director as facilitator, a program participant, staff member, our board chair, and a funder. The objective of this panel and workshop is to connect our audience and bring a different perspective through our model. Prospera promotes inclusion and equity in a manner that is unique, transformative, and creates revolutionary change. We apply this practice within our board, staff, programs and in our relationships with funders. It is our fundamental belief that we need to integrate a constant reflection of power, and how relationships are determined by the dynamic of power allowing us to break barriers of systems and dynamics that have been established in non-profit organizations for decades. We question what has been established with all components that make up our organization, including all voices, specially of the voice of those who don’t usually have a voice to determine their needs. Establishing a relationship that goes beyond a transactional relationship is vital to break the power dynamic between funders and non-profits.
The panel and workshop will include our best practices, what makes Prospera different from the perspective of the board, staff, program participants and funders. It is our hope that the audience walks away understanding why our model works to create a more inclusive and sustainable community. Collectively we can all become catalysts for change and break hierarchies, and create a more inclusive and vibrant ecosystem.
