Julianne Zimmerman July 12, 2022

Come participate in a collective working session for SOCAP community members actively shifting capital away from extractive, repressive, destructive “best practices” that perpetuate a false distinction between financial and other outcomes, and into reparative, just, beneficial endeavors that apply a fact-based perspective to stewarding financial returns in context with their attendant impacts. Session hosts will lead / facilitate an exchange of investing approaches, strategies, networks, and instruments that are proving effective in deploying financial and other resources to reverse harms and generate beneficial social, environmental, climate, and health outcomes for investors and stakeholders. Participants of all financial capacity will share and compare what is working to accelerate or obstruct their capital flows, and will leave the session with concrete commitments and actionable next steps to significantly increase the pace and magnitude of their capital allocation for peace, justice, and prosperity for all.

Purpose and Desired Outcome

Our purpose in this session is to name examples and concrete steps for participants to put their hopes for system change and stated intentions for financial impact into immediate practice. The desired outcome is for each participant to leave the session with at least one step they can take to shift their money in service of those aspirations. Note that the relevant SDGs will vary by participant. Session hosts have direct expertise across multiple SDGs but will attempt to guide the conversation to be applicable across all SDGs.
