How can participatory practices be adopted in the impact investing space? The prominence of participatory practices such as participatory budgeting, grantmaking, and policy has increased significantly in recent years, and better reflect the aspirations of impacted communities and can lead to more equitable capital deployment and impact. However, participatory investing is still nascent, and has not yet become as widespread. WES and Common Future have partnered to launch the Action Lab: Participatory Investing to provide space for funders to learn and test participatory practices within the context of impact investments and develop a participatory investment framework, tools, and resources.
In this workshop session, WES and Common Future will share more about the Action Lab’s progress, and another funder from the initiative as well as one of their investees will walk through how they are putting it into practice. Participants will explore how to apply the framework to their own work, and share thoughts and contributions to the ongoing development of this work.
