Populate Wall Street: Building the Stakeholder Economy

Pamela Neronha July 8, 2022

The Populate Wall Street course, presented by 17 Asset Management, unfolds in a fully-virtual format with all the rigor of an in-person experience. The course lays the foundation for 17AM Sustainable Investing Fellows, students, newcomers to the industry, and to early and returning financial professionals, to build or enhance their understanding of every aspect of the financial services landscape. With the rise of the stakeholder economy and the heightened expectations of institutional accountability, how do ethics and values impact the future of the financial industry? How will you make a difference in a world that now expects greater corporate stewardship of our communities and planet?

Our goals for the course are to understand that the responsibility of “populating” Wall Street with ethics and values lies with Wall Street’s next generation of leaders, and to set the scene for a course content focused on exploring how we can hold the industry accountable to that change.

Purpose and Desired Outcome

From the history of Wall Street 1.0 to 4.0, to the deconstruction of the financial services supply chain, and by applying human-centered design thinking to the capital markets, we can usher in an era that we aptly call Wall Street 5.0 - the new Stakeholder Economy. To get there we need to know our WHY. Populate Wall Street is a foundational course that introduces students to the new stakeholder capitalism, and allows them to evaluate where we stand today to understand where we can - and should go - in the future. 17AM has done it in Philadelphia, and is preparing to do it in Boston and Los Angeles.
