Scaling technology-enabled sustainable food systems in Africa is imperative for half of its citizens facing food insecurity, and to the 60% of the population who earn their living as smallholder farmers. While there has been progress, a recent McKinsey report states Africa could be two to three times more productive if it intensified its agricultural production, and there is a call to action for governments, investors, and development partners to do more. The panel will discuss the current landscape, the urgency to move quickly, the role social entrepreneurship plays, and how to augment activities underway, particularly around policy, market access and investment.
