The Land Back movement to return land to Indigenous communities has gained tremendous momentum across North America. Beyond a real-estate exchange, Indigenous communities are developing innovative, land-based business models for cultural and economic revitalization in these traditional territories. One of many, ventures such as Nawalakw, an eco-tourism destination in the Kwakwaka̱’wa̱kw Territory of the Great Bear Rainforest grew to 100 employees in less than 3 years. From eco-tourism, to sustainable agriculture to healing resorts, this fireside chat will dive into powerful examples of how the Land Back movement can serve as the foundation for a new era of more equitable and regenerative economic activity.
