Time is Money: What Philanthropy Can Teach the Capital Markets About Moving Money Where It’s Needed – and Vice Versa

Kristine Michie July 11, 2022

Join some of the nation’s fastest philanthropists, innovators, and impact investors as they discuss what they’re doing to move money quickly to respond and proactively rebut trends and movements which threaten lives, livelihoods, and democracy itself. Panelists will engage with small groups and discuss new diligencing practices for fund managers that prioritize lived-experiences, holding corporations accountable for pledges they made in a rush of press release-moments over the last two years, efforts to train and recruit diverse fund managers, and adoption of rapid-response philanthropy tactics that made headlines during the pandemic and racial reckoning, but are at risk of reverting back to norms that are uneven and unfair.

Purpose and Desired Outcome

Audience members will have close access to panelists in small groups where they can not only learn from these experts but offer their own expertise to the group. The panelists will then have additional fodder and feedback when they take to the stage and respond to questions from the moderator and audience. With a range of capital deployers, from philanthropy to asset management, we will learn how the practices of one can inform the other, and how together a new breed of capital impact might be realized.
