A large portion of U.S. economic growth in the 20th century was driven by diversification of the country’s workforce. Today, we have an additional challenge, in the form of declining labor force participation and difficulty in attracting and retaining talent.
We’ll discuss how expectations for hiring that aren’t clearly linked to job success factors are causing a destructive divergence between our people and our workforce, especially for adults without a four year degree and those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system, disproportionately impacting Black and Latinx workers.
In an open dialogue with two companies that have taken bold steps to change the face of their workforce, we will discuss specific actions companies can take to drive a new convergence, helping people reach their full potential and spur continued, just, economic growth.
