Venture Studios as an Inclusive Driver of Prosperity in Africa

Theodore Sutherland July 6, 2022

<25% of VC funding in Africa goes to local entrepreneurs and <10% to women. Critical sectors like energy and agriculture, which impact millions of lives receive less than 4% of investment. Considering the disproportionate impact of climate change in Africa, it’s imperative that African and female founders can access financing to address these challenges at scale.

We believe that the venture studio model of building companies from scratch alongside founders, can be adapted to create a more just and robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In this workshop, we will engage attendees to further adapt this model to be more inclusive of the challenges of diverse founders, and brainstorm how to engage the investor community to advance the impact of ventures born from studios.
