Why protecting vulnerable communities is critical to effective climate action.

2030. That’s the date the entire world is watching, working toward, and worrying about when it comes to taking action on climate change. Will we do enough? Will we meet the goals? And will we do it in a way that doesn’t further disadvantage already vulnerable communities? For many organizations and individuals funding climate solutions – climate justice is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the conversation and a bigger consideration when taking action. Ensuring that climate solutions reach the most vulnerable, the most impacted, and those who have the least resources to protect themselves and their families helps ensure that these communities don’t have to bear a disproportionate burden when it comes to the adverse effects of climate change. In this session, we’ll introduce climate justice – what is it, how are organizations approaching it, what should investors understand about it, and why it’s a dimension that’s been overlooked to date.
