How can we build a truly equitable economy? This June, SPECTRUM will gather multicultural changemakers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, and investors from around the country for a virtual event focused on closing the racial equity gap. For three days, the SPECTRUM community will share tools, networks, and knowledge while collaborating on ways we can build new systems that support and drive capital to leaders of color and increase access, embrace inclusion, and drive impact in communities across the country.
The conversations we are planning for SPECTRUM are more urgent now than ever. This pandemic is shining a light into the cracks in our systems where inequities live and affect our most vulnerable populations. We have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to usher in system level changes as a result. SPECTRUM is an important piece of pushing on the systems and creating the pathways for action to build upon.
Join us as we gather as a community to rejuvenate and lay the foundation for an equitable future. If you are working or mobilizing in the following areas, we invite you to join us:
- mission-driven business focused on impact
- angel investing and investor networks
- social entrepreneurship
- race and equity
- technology and innovation
- art and culture
- sustainability and economic development
- philanthropy
- consultants and wealth advisors
We need you. In order to do this right, SPECTRUM needs your ideas, expertise, creativity and experience — and we need it there in the room. Let’s build an ecosystem where we listen and learn how to create opportunities for equity for those working and innovating in the social-impact universe. Let’s grow and build solutions together.EXPLORE VIDEOS

June 9 DAY ONE: ACCESS
People of color are the fastest-growing population of entrepreneurs across America. Though their ideas and innovations are plentiful, the opportunities and access to capital for leaders of color are not. This day will focus on ways the SPECTRUM community can help ensure that communities of color gain equal access to resources, services, and opportunities.
June 10 DAY TWO: INCLUSION
An inclusive economy ensures that resources are fairly distributed across communities and opportunities are created for all to thrive. On the second day of SPECTRUM, we will identify ways to build inclusive networks that disrupt dominant negative narratives and empower people to share ideas, collaborate, and feel comfortable taking risks.
June 11 DAY THREE: IMPACT
Closing the racial wealth gap is an economic and moral necessity. In the US, the average white family has 41 times more wealth than the average African-American family and 22 times more than the average Latino family (NYT). How do we recognize and support people of color who are on the frontlines addressing this issue through businesses, investing, and creating positive impact within their communities? On the third day we’ll highlight what is working locally, regionally, and nationally. The SPECTRUM community will collaborate on new solutions.

Civic DinnerMain Stage Conversations
Our facilitator will guide us through interactive anchor conversations focusing on increasing access to capital, tools, and insight for people who have been historically marginalized. We will center on the mechanisms needed for building an inclusive economy in which all of us have equal opportunity to thrive and achieve prosperity and surfacing solutions that deliver positive social impact. Attendees will participate in Fireside Chats, Breakout Sessions, Lightning Bolts (short, 8-minute powerful stories from influential trailblazers who are leading the charge and creating game-changing solutions) and more.
Community Building
SPECTRUM’s community building activities will feature wellness workshops, networking opportunities and performances so attendees can build relationships in fun and interactive ways each day! Sign up for as many Community Building activities as fit your schedule. Options may include Musical Entertainment directly following Main Stage conversations or Concurrent Break Outs where you’ll sign up and choose from concurrent sessions.
Civic Dinners (or Lunches)
A highlight of attendees last year. Civic Dinners is the platform that brings people together to have conversations that matter. Food and fellowship are an important part of building community and lasting relationships. We can’t be together in-person now but we can still gather around the table for a meal. With the help of technology, SPECTRUM will create virtual dinner tables with attendees from across the country to discuss closing the racial equity gap.
