D. Light Receives $5.5 Million Investment From Omidyar Network

D.Light
D.Light is a social venture with the goal of eradicating the use of kerosene lamps with affordable lighting to base of the pyramid consumers. D.Light received initial investments in 2008 from social capital organizations like Acumen Fund and Gray Matters as well as traditional VCs such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson. This year they received $5.5 million from Omidyar Network. Omidyar Network is social venture capital and tactical philanthropy firm started by Ebay founder Pierre Omidyar. D.Light, Acumen Fund, Gray Matters and Omidyar have all been at SOCAP previously will likely all be at SOCAP10 this year, collaborating to define What’s Next in the social capital markets space.
