Kiva Receives $5 Million Grant from the Omidyar Network

Kiva, a SOCAP10 attendee, just received $5 million from the Omidyar Network, another SOCAP10 attendee and sponsor. The Omidyar Network finances statrups and organizations that can have a positive social impact in developing countries. The money will be used to match up to $2 million worth of loans, improve Kiva’s technology platform, and expand its field partners — the local microfinance institutions within the countries Kiva works in. Kiva recently had its fifth anniversary.
