SOCAP10 is pleased to announce the California HealthCare Foundation’s sponsorship of SOCAP10. With new changes coming to domestic healthcare, we need innovations that can make a difference now! CHCF is partnering with SOCAP10 to find the solutions that can scale.
The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) is a private foundation committed to improving the way health care is delivered and financed in California. CHCF provides about $40 Million a year in grants and projects and will continue with this level of grantmaking. However, CHCF has added a Program Related Investment program, described below, which aims to do $10-12m in investments over three years.
CHCF is interested in accelerating the development of innovations that change the way health care is organized and delivered – with a focus on lowering healthcare system costs and improving access for the underserved. We invest in entrepreneurs and organizations that have new approaches to enable less expensive health care or to deliver care in less expensive and more convenient settings. We are interested in investing in new healthcare delivery services, devices, and technologies that have already obtained or do not require FDA approval. We provide early stage funding up to $500,000, although we will consider investing up to $3 million over the life of the deal. We will be looking for deals where our expected exit is within three to five years. We will work with investees through a range of financial instruments – from grants and loans to equity investments – appropriate to the particular situation.
