Runa introduces Amazon Guayusa to East Coast and the waiting masses

Megan McFadden October 5, 2010

Runa is please to announce the launch of its new line of bagged guayusa teas online in markets nationwide. Simultaneously, we are proud to share our entry into Whole Foods Markets in the MId-Atlantic Region, and the beginning of regional and national distribution partnerships with DPI and Associated Buyers. Runa began when two students teamed up with communities of indigenous farmers to share the guayusa (why-you-suh) ritual with the world. A truly balanced stimulant, guayusa contains caffeine, antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids to awaken the mind and fortify the body. Its combined effect is one of sustained energy, what the indigenous Kichwa people call mental strength and courage. Guayusa’s unique blend of caffeine, theobromine, and theophyline is what facilitates a whole-body feeling of awareness and presence. Collectively, we are creating a business that respects cultural traditions, supports small farmers, and helps the Amazon rainforest thrive by protecting and reforesting Ecuadorian farmland, in partnership with these communities. The word Runa means person or fully living human being in the Kichwa language. We chose this name to represent our company’s commitment to realizing a dream of living responsibly, collaboratively, and intelligently as a global community. Learn more at www.runa.org.
