Consultant Call for Conservation International's Verde Ventures Fund

SOCAP Global October 11, 2011

Conservation Internationals (CI) Verde Ventures Fund (VVF) was established in 2002 to address the lack of access to finance for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME’s) impacting biodiversity, ecosystem health and human well being. Despite their significant economic role, many SME’s continue to suffer from a lack of access to financing, which impacts growth and the adoption of sustainable business practices. VV has since successfully invested USD 17.1 million in SME’s as at June 30, 2011, positively impacting 460,000 ha and more than 53,000 people. Based on these encouraging achievements, the Fund sponsors envisage scaling up the activities by setting a separate and independent Fund, with significantly larger amounts of capital  than the current facility.
VVF is seeking to shortlist consultants to build on the recently completed feasibility assessment, and to work with VVF to develop a viable business plan, a detailed four country demand assessment and a review of legal options related to domicile and governance in order to establish the Verde Ventures Fund into a fund separate and independent from Conservation International Foundation. The facility is envisioned to have a technical assistance (TA) facility alongside.
