How to Prepare for a Successful SOCAP17

jbmedia October 2, 2017

SOCAP is the largest impact conference in the world and we’ll be celebrating our 10th anniversary at SOCAP17. Here are a few easy steps that you can take now to get ready for the best SOCAP yet.

Fill Out Your Pathable Profile

If you already purchased your SOCAP ticket then you should have received an email invitation to join the SOCAP17 Pathable community. If you didn’t see the invitation email, please check your spam folder.
Personalize your Pathable profile with a photo and your bio and a brief descriptions of your role in the social capital markets. To increase the chance that someone whose interests align with your own finds you on Pathable, make sure to include details about your area of impact, as well as links to your website and social media platforms to grow your network on LinkedIn, Twitter…etc.
Search for other attendees that you want to reach out to before or during the conference. You can request private meetings by contacting attendees through Pathable, or take a look at their social media platforms to learn more about their project or mission. You can also start discussions to find aligned members of the community through the platform.

Start Planning Your Schedule

SOCAP offers a number of concurrent sessions throughout the day, as well as parties, informal meet and greets, and networking opportunities. Use Pathable to start exploring the schedule now, so you can hit the ground running as soon as you get to Fort Mason. Build some flexibility into your day, though – the conversations that happen at the picnic tables are often as informative as the sessions!

Come Prepared to Strike Up Conversations

SOCAP is known for being a place to meet valuable strangers – people you haven’t met yet whose values align with your own that offer skills and assets that could make an incredible positive impact on your work.
As you strike up conversations with other members of the SOCAP community, you will find many individuals who share your vision for change. Prepare to dig deeper, listen more thoughtfully, ask better questions. You may discover a new ally, mentor, partner, or friend.

Remember: You Can Create Your Own SOCAP Community Discussion

If there is a topic you don’t see mentioned in any SOCAP17 session descriptions, and would like lead a conversation with like-minded attendees about that subject, we will help you create your own discussion group during the event. Take your idea to the host station at the Pop-Up Impact Hub in the front of Festival Pavilion and they will help you add the information about the meeting and topic on Pathable.
