Ep. 26: Meika Hollender of Sustain

WCW Podcast April 8, 2019

In 2012, Meika Hollender was sitting by the pool during the summer of her MBA program when someone handed her a business proposal for a sustainable condom company, and it turns out that someone was her own father, Jeffrey Hollender, who founded the company Seventh Generation. Convinced at the time that she was far more interested in becoming an intrapreneur and working at a large corporation, Meika didn’t exactly jump at the opportunity. But, over the next six months, she began to realize that sustainable condoms and feminine care was actually something that she cared a lot about. So, she took the leap and co-founded Sustain with her own dad. In this episode, we’ll hear about what advice she has for starting a company with a family member, how she’s built a company in such a taboo product category, and how she’s kept it all together through the ups and downs of building her business.
