How Jane Wurwand Went From Salon Apprentice to Millionaire Entrepreneur and Philanthropist

Eek! We’re trying to contain our excitement. Jane Wurwand will be joining the 2020 World-Changing Women’s Summit to share her story, experience, and wisdom with the lucky attendees. The millionaire business mogul got her start as a salon apprentice and then went on to accomplish the following:
  • She opened her own classroom under the name International Dermal Institute (IDI). (IDI educates more than 75,000 skin therapists annually at 38 training centers worldwide.)
  • She self-financed her own skincare line, Dermalogica, in 1986.
  • In 2011, she created the Financial Independence Through Education initiative to help women and girls access education, vocational training, loans, and leadership opportunities. To date, he program has helped fund more than 106,000 loans and given educational scholarships to women and girls in 15 countries.
  • She bootstrapped Dermalogica all the way to an acquisition by Unilever in 2015, and the line is sold in over 100 countries.
