SOCAP kicks off in just a few days! This year’s conference promises to be the best yet, with more mainstage content, talented artist emcees, amazing performances, dynamic panels, interactive workshops, and facilitated networking sessions. As you are making your preparations for the event, we have a few suggestions that will be helpful for newcomers and veterans of our flagship conference alike.
Start Making Your Daily Schedule Now
The full SOCAP18 schedule is now available in Pathable. Review session descriptions and create your own personal daily schedule before the event begins.
This year, SOCAP is shifting to a festival schedule. Sessions are running concurrently across multiple venues on campus all days of the event from morning until night. You won’t be able to see everything and we don’t recommend trying. We do, however, recommend that you use Pathable to read about sessions and plan your own daily agenda in advance.
Printed programs will be available at the Registration desk, but pre-planning some or all of your schedule now can help you feel more relaxed and fully present (and less pressure to decide/FOMO) during the conference. (Adding your personal schedule in Pathable is also a tool for networking at SOCAP18).
Pro tip: If this is your first time coming to the flagship SOCAP conference, know that you will receive a program book that contains a detailed map of the Fort Mason campus when you check in. Refer to the map when finalizing your conference agenda to ensure you will have ample time to travel from one session to the next.
Make Time to Socialize
Don’t forget to schedule in the after hours social events that will take place at Fort Mason.
- Welcome Reception: Tuesday, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
- Wine Down: Wednesday, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- The Ghost Fleet: Film Screening with Director Q&A, Wednesday 6:30 – 8:30 pm
- SOCAP Party! Food Trucks and Festivities: Thursday, 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Breakfast and Lunch Plans
When making your daily schedule, you should also plan time for meals. Breakfast and lunch will be served buffet style in Festival Pavilion and the Big Top Tent on Wednesday, Thursday. (Please note there is no lunch on Tuesday-but there are many eateries to choose from near Fort Mason). On Friday, box lunches will be served between noon and 1 pm.
Acre Gourmet will offer vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and nut-free offerings at every meal. Beverage stations are available in multiple areas and snacks are provided daily.
Packing Tips
When packing clothes for SOCAP, plan to dress for a wide range of temperatures. The daily temps in San Francisco in October range from an average low of 54°F (12°C) to an average high of 69°F (20°C). Wearing layers is strongly recommended.
If this is your first SOCAP and you are unsure of the range of clothing styles you will see–take a look at Maura Dilley’s ImpactAlpha piece from last year, How 17 of the best-dressed people at SOCAP would invest $1 million for impact.
As for footwear, we recommend that you wear (or at least bring) comfortable shoes. The Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture campus covers 13 acres. You will do a lot of walking and may need to travel across pavement for quite a distance to get from one session to the next.
Special Accommodations
We want everyone at SOCAP18 to have equal access and enjoyment of the conference. If you require any special accommodations please email us now at info@socialcapitalmarkets.net to let us know. Advance notice will help us make arrangements. Once SOCAP18 begins, please report to the host station at the front of Festival Pavilion to ask for assistance.
