Fair Chance Hiring: Good for Justice, Good for Business
/

Sometimes we set the bar too low – that has been the case with employers and fair chance hiring. Instead of seeing possibility and potential, a myth is perpetuated that fair chance hiring is seen as exceptional instead of expected. In reality, fair chance hiring is about justice, but it is also about good business.

There is a growing interest in fair chance hiring which opens significant opportunities for people records. After taking this first step – corporations can play a much more dynamic role in advancing economic mobility for people with records. JFF’s Lucrecia Murphy at the Center for Justice and Economic Advancement will lead a hybrid fireside chat-workshop on how to expand fair chance hiring for employers. Speakers from the Checkr Foundation, Responsible Business Initiatives in Justice, and Action for Racial Equity will share how employers benefit when they develop equitable practices for people with records.

In a workshop structure, these speakers will share foundational information about fair chance hiring but then also engage participants in a discussion about actions that corporate leaders can take to address their concerns for talent acquisition and advance equity and justice in society.
