If a mechanic listed everything wrong with your car without offering a way to repair it, you’d find another shop. Yet philanthropists, funders, and investors are often left with just that: tons of information on the problems and little on effective responses to them.
The Solutions Insights Lab, an initiative of the Solutions Journalism Network, works with changemakers and social innovation experts, digging into a range of social issues with one big question: What’s working? We’ve seen the power of leading with solutions, a power that can help social change organizations work more effectively, audiences connect more deeply, and philanthropists invest more impactfully.
In this one-hour workshop, we’ll use the Lab’s interviews and insights to reframe social issues, with a particular spotlight on how the Livelihood Impact Fund has taken this approach in scaling reading glasses to millions of people to help improve incomes and lives. Attendees will come away with a solutions-forward framework to support their efforts and uncover a new way of thinking about their decisions on what to invest in and how, along with ideas for maximizing impact and changing the public conversation.
