The session will demonstrate how innovative financing structures can utilize blended finance to unlock new pools of capital for impact. Using Realize Fund I, our CAD 270MM blended finance FoF, we will unpack the key learnings from structuring a blended structure that successfully attracted net-new, institutional private capital participation through a portfolio-level de-risking structure. Realize Fund I is part of a broader initiative, the Social Finance Fund, a CAD 755MM initiative of the Government of Canada created to accelerate the growth of Canada’s impact investing market. This structure could provide a useful case study for others, demonstrating how coordinated efforts, aligning interest and sharing risk builds investor confidence.
