Building Investments to Build Power: A Generative Workshop for Community Ownership

Community-owned real estate (CORE) is now front and center in impact investing. But there hasn’t been an accompanying uptick in available capital.

In this session, experts across perspectives will describe key features of CORE – including governance, organizing, and structure – and how that means that most available capital is misaligned. Participants will then form collaborative tables to further identify their specific capital roadblocks, share potential solutions from their experience, and ideate strategies to scale community-owned real estate with a robust capital market. Participants will leave with new perspectives on prior assumptions and a clear framework to move towards financing transactions with community control.
