Designing Blended Finance Mechanisms That Solve, Not Just Mobilize

The impact capital community has advanced in blending capital, but less so in designing it. Too often, vehicles are structured to move money rather than solve the barriers preventing it from flowing effectively. This session explores mechanism design as an underdeveloped frontier in blended finance, drawing on real-world examples where structuring choices—such as pooling, instrument integration, and flow alignment—helped address root constraints. Through practitioner exchange and collaborative problem-solving, participants will examine how design can shape markets and co-create approaches that move beyond mobilization toward system transformation.
