In 2021, the City of Spartanburg, South Carolina, regional health organizations, community leaders, and impact investors came together to launch Hello Family – a continuum of services that seek to improve birth outcomes and early childhood health in the city. Hello Family offers support to all families in Spartanburg from pregnancy to kindergarten through evidence-based programs like community doula care, nurse home visiting, and parent coaching.
This historic public-private partnership aligns government funding—including American Rescue Plan dollars—with improved early childhood outcomes. By paying for results like fewer incidences of low birthweight and reduced child maltreatment, Spartanburg is investing in solutions that work and leading the way for community innovation in South Carolina and nationwide.
