Description

Ways of creating scalable housing solutions for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), with a triple bottom line. While there are ~13 million people with IDD in the United States, ~80% live with family in adulthood. Adults with IDD are 400% more likely to become homeless, and are the largest burden on the healthcare system. Through investment in sustainable housing for this population, we can mitigate healthcare costs and help this population live a meaningful existence. The housing industry has not historically served this large, a rapidly growing population in ways which are sustainable, scalable and investable. Our goal is to scale, attract investment, and help adults with IDD (and their families) lead meaningful lives. Each of the panel speakers is focused on investing in housing solutions for adults with IDD which are scalable. The panel speakers will discuss the overarching problem, and solutions they are implementing in the market.

Additional details: Home Catalyst LLC is investing in inclusive housing nationally through partnerships and seeking to raise a first time fund dedicated to inclusive IDD housing with a triple bottom line. Michel Melind works for Bank of America which has invested in Casa Familia a housing project being developed to serve adults with IDD, and Bruce Michael is a Partner of Three Oaks Communities a for profit neuro inclusive housing developer.
