Mass Incarceration has impacted many communities. In US, there are over 2.2 million people locked up, with nearly 600,000 men and women being released every year. Out of that number, nearly half will return to prison within the first year. Recidivism, or reoffending and returning to prison happens for a myriad of reasons, the lack of employment being one of them. In this talk, I will discuss the challenges the formerly incarcerated face when looking for jobs, the stigmatization, and how the DEI industry can be an ally providing stable careers.
