How Redefining Empathy Needs to be the Next Phase of both DEI and L&D

Micah (Wonjoon) Kessel Empathable

Scientific research has long proven that empathy is defined incorrectly in the dictionary. Unfortunately, by adopting this impossible definition the world of business leadership, management and talent development find themselves maxed out in their potential to create cultural harmony. We find ourselves at a crucial crossroad, and continually applying empathy improperly will only loop us back to discord.

In this session, we’ll propose an applicable, realistic definition that paves a path to mass cultural empathy. We’ll then give example of how – even amidst the most tumultuous of times and topics – this mindset shift can lay a foundation for a new era of organizational growth, impact and meaning.
