Inclusive Design as a Catalyst for Innovation

Thomas Moyers Perkins School for the Blind

The Howe Innovation Center at Perkins School for the Blind is convening the DisabilityTech ecosystem to catalyze innovation for technologies and products that improve the lives of people with disabilities. By creating an ecosystem comprised of people with disabilities and entrepreneurs innovating in the DisabilityTech space, we amplify the lived experience of those with disabilities to support innovators by removing friction points in the design process. At SOCAP 2024, we would like to share our experience with attendees, hosting a fireside chat showcasing how creating a diverse ecosystem creates win-win scenarios for all stakeholders, specifically speaking to embedding inclusive design and accessibility principles, sourced by communities of people with lived experience, can spark innovation and change the world for all.

Sandy Lacey, Executive Director of the Howe Innovation Center at Perkins, will have a fireside chat with Cait Brumme, CEO of MassChallenge. Our partnership with MassChallenge highlights our work to center the voices of people with lived experience of having a disability into the design process, partnering with innovators and entrepreneurs to make any product or technology accessible.
