Measuring What Matters: Can Assessment Unlock Capital for Human Skills Development?

Impact investors cite measurement gaps as the primary barrier to deploying capital into K–12 education. Mindsets’ research-backed 13 Future Ready Skills framework changes that — validated by WestEd, a federally-funded, nonpartisan nonprofit education research agency, which confirmed significant student growth in two of the 13 Future Ready Skills — the ability to reason mathematically (d≈1.20) and the ability to analyze and predict (d≈1.19) — with a 7.47x increase in engagement. Both are embedded in state education legislation across most US states — but rarely taught at scale.
