Polycapital: Strategizing your Capital for Impact at Scale

Paul Ziesche Generation Pledge

When people think of doing good in the world, they often think of donating or investing their money for impact. But as systemic approaches take the center stage in impact discussions, so does the realization that this limited understanding of capital is falling short of the challenges at hand and the potential within our grasp. This session will explain how individuals can use their full suite of influence for positive impact, pairing philanthropy and investments with business operations, networks, public reputation, political influence, and work experience. Generation Pledge coined the term polycapital to describe this concept in the form of economic, social, political, and career capital. Sid Efromovich, co-founder and CEO as well as main creator of the polycapital framework, will represent Generation Pledge during this event. He will be joined by Kirsten Andersen, Lead Researcher from CSP North America, who are early adopters of the concept. Based on polycapital strategies and structures Generation Pledge has developed for their pledgers, inheritors from ultra high net wealth families, and the in-depth understanding that CSP holds on myriad ways of leveraging investments for impact. Panelists will lead a dynamic discussion on how polycapital can amplify individual impact in the world and support systems level change when executed well. In this session, panelists will discuss the various forms of capital, how to combine capital strategically, and how to validate that an approach will truly be impactful. Naiana Miranda, principal at MSH Partners and co-chair of the Amazon Bioeconomy Chamber, is a capital allocator who has employed a polycapital strategy as part of her impact journey. She will demonstrate how the theory of polycapital works in her practice.
