Description

Since the forming of the cooperative, the organization has been facing a number of bottlenecks that impede the farmers to attain a holistic social economic development. One of the challenging aspects is the growing demand of organically produced cocoa produce by most of the buyers that approach the cooperative for business partnership. To achieve this status, the cooperative is required to adopt the production and quality organic standards and certify all it’s members. Rwenduyocop being a young producer organization that interested in becoming competitive in the cocoa value chain and other crops, it is to set systems that implement organic standards monitor the whole process.
Although Rwenduyocop has been organizing it’s 750 farmers to bulk their agricultural produce during marketing, this has not been fully achieved due to the fact that cocoa markets at local level are in stable and local buyers take advantage of farmers’ ignorance about market scout beyond the district to pay them miserable prices.
