Project On Farmer's Education

ICYUZUZO TV, known as “The Voice of the Agriculture and Livestock,” is a television platform that operate as community-based company and disseminates information through various social media channels, including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Instagram. It was founded by William MBAZUMUTIMA, who resides in the Huye District of Southern Province, Rwanda. William is also a member of the Rwanda Youth Agribusiness Forum (RYAF). ICYUZUZO TV operates under a license issued by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) on July 8, 2020 with Tin number: 111579641. It is authorized to operate throughout the country.

The company has three key missions:
1. To facilitate the flow of information related to sustainable agriculture among farmers.
2. To provide a platform for youth and women involved in agribusiness to market their products.
3. To advocate for addressing challenges in the agriculture sector, promoting food security and combating malnutrition and child stunting

Our main objectives; To facilitate youth and women in agribusiness, access to information, knowledge and skills about farming, livestock, climate change and its resilience for environment protection best practices to ensure food security, nutritional health, generating more income as well as creating jobs among others.

We believe that involving youth and women is the key of fighting against poverty and as well as job creation for the rest of the world.

Our main approach is to educate people through social media because It has been revealed that information from social media spreads faster at low cost inefficient and affordable way.

Agriculture
In agriculture our talk show focus on the following topics:
-Promote Agriculture profession through making everyone aware about the role and importance of farming and livestock to human being as well as to national economy.
-Encourage young men and women to be part of agriculture and practice farming as business as well as informing them about available opportunities in the sector.
-Carry out advocacy about challenges that hinder sustainable agriculture development.
-Train farmers on best sustainable agriculture practices to professionalize their farming through video and audio talk shows.
-Increase awareness about agriculture insurance (crops and livestock).
-Promote agriculture that do not depend on rain season (crop irrigation system);
-Mobilize/encouraging farmers to attend agri-show as the opportunity of promoting what they do as well as find where to buy inputs and farm equipment.
-Encouraging farmers using technology in Agriculture.

Environment protection and conservation
Environment plays an important role in healthy living and the existence of life on planet earth. Earth is a home for different living species, and we all are dependent on the environment for food, air, water, and other needs. Therefore, it is important for every individual to save and protect our environment. ICYUZUZO TV has taken the initiative to contribute to protection and conservation efforts by hosting various discussions and uploading them to our different channels.
-We are teaching farmers and all Rwandans in general the best environmentally friendly farming practices as a solution for sustainable agriculture and development.
-Teaching farmers the efficient utilization of environmental resources and promoting circular economy principles.
-Teaching farmers about agro ecology principles and promoting practices that contribute to soil restoration.
-Encourage farmers to plant trees, including fruit-bearing varieties, as trees play a crucial role in soil restoration, erosion prevention, and enriching the soil with natural fertilizers through their fallen leaves

Achievement resulting from advocacy efforts for farmers
-Increase awareness of new crops introduced in Rwanda, such as avocados, which are primarily cultivated in Kirehe district, and grapevines (Vigne), currently grown in the Huye District of the Southern Province. Other notable crops include macadamia and pome fruits, among others.
-Linking farmers to buyers: Through ICYUZUZO TV, we have advocated for farmers facing challenges in accessing reliable markets. As a result of this advocacy, the Government of Rwanda, through MINICOFIN, issued regulation No. 1355/10/21/MIN on April 12, 2021, requiring all districts to mandate that schools purchase their produce from local farmers

Our uniqueness as ICYUZUZO TV, we give platform to youth and women in Agriculture sector to assist them market their products. We believe that involving youth and women is the key to fight against poverty as well as promoting sustainability in agriculture, climate change, food security and environment protection
