Redefining Safety: From Spreadsheets to Community Value

This session pivots from transactional metrics to a transformative Value of Investment (VOI) mindset. While institutional data often uses arrest counts as a proxy for safety, we explore how narrative power and relational health are the true indicators of prosperity. Using the Risks & Benefits Framework, we challenge the “Logic Gap” between system data and lived experience.
Attendees will engage in “Place-Based Circles” to identify the “through-line” between capital and the feeling of safety. We will share how Community Works navigates these tensions to ensure justice-impacted voices lead the redesign of safety metrics. Participants will co-curate a set of Community Value Principles to bring back to their own portfolios.
